Specifically, SDG 11, which aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable, is closely related to smart cities. Smart cities can contribute to the achievement of this goal in a number of ways, such as:

  • Improve safety and resilience: Smart cities can use technologies to improve the safety of their citizens, such as the use of surveillance cameras and sensors to detect threats. They can also use technologies to improve the resilience of cities to natural disasters.
